Landseer was an English painter, well known for his paintings of animals, particularly horses, dogs and stags. He was very popular in Victorian times with all classes of society. Queen Victoria herself commissioned numerous portraits of her family and pets. His best known work however are sculptures - the lions in Trafalgar Square, London.
